A plugin solar kit generates solar energy for self-consumption at home. The energy it produces is used directly by appliances. This prevents your household from having to buy that energy from your electricity provider, reducing your electricity bills.

Electricity bill savings depend on your total consumption. A house consumes much more than an apartment, so the effect of a plugin solar kit will likely be greater for the latter. The more people there are in a household, the higher the total consumption. Since a plugin solar kit is limited to 800 W, for households of 1 to 3 people the savings from a plugin solar kit will be higher as a percentage of total electricity consumption compared to larger households that consume more. Additionally, if you have many high-consumption devices running for long periods, like air conditioners, water heaters, ovens, etc., your consumption is likely much higher than the 800 W maximum power that a plugin solar kit can provide.

But keep in mind, some savings are better than no savings. And the higher your energy consumption, the more likely you are to use 100% of the energy from your plugin solar kit, maximizing your financial return.

Much easier than you think. A plugin solar kit generates solar energy using solar panels. The micro inverter converts the direct current from the solar panels into alternating current used in your home. A special cable connects the micro inverter to a standard power socket in your home, injecting the plugin solar kit's energy into your home's electrical circuit.

This circuit works similarly to a system of channels. There are several energy consuming devices connected. The sum of that energy consumption is what your electricity company ultimately supplies to the home. Your meter tracks how much electricity is being used at any given moment.

Now, if you connect a plugin solar kit to your channel system, it injects energy into that network. The connected appliances will use that energy first. If you have several electrical circuits at home, they all come together at the electrical panel, which is connected to the meter. If there is excess energy in the circuit connected to the plugin solar kit, it will be distributed to the other circuits that require energy.
